A hand-tufted high-pile carpet is a plush, handcrafted floor covering created by using a manual tufting gun to punch loops of yarn through a stretched primary canvas backing based on a drawn design. High-pile variants feature a thick, dense vertical fiber height (typically ranging from 15mm to 25mm or up to 1 inch), locked in place with a latex adhesive layer and a protective secondary cotton backing.
Construction Process.
Design Mapping: The pattern is printed or hand-drawn onto a stretched primary backing cloth (usually cotton or polyester mesh).
Gun Tufting: Artisans hand-guide a pneumatic or electric tufting needle to inject rich yarn strands into the canvas according to color specifications.
Adhesive Bonding: A heavy layer of liquid latex is coated across the reverse side to permanently anchor the embedded yarn roots.
Secondary Backing: A sturdy cotton cloth or mesh is layered over the latex to seal the structure and improve dimensional stability.
Finishing: The rug is sheared for pile uniformity, hand-carved for dimensional accents, washed, and dried.
